BIO

Viola Othilie Tømte graduated with a BA in Acting from the Norwegian Theatre Academy in 2016. As a part of her BA she did an exchange at The Roy Hart Centre in Maleragues - France, studying Extended Vocal Technique.

Before pursuing her BA she spent six months in Bologna - Italy, devoting herself to Grotowski-inspired theatre training and performance making with the internationally recognized Instabili Vaganti Compagnia Teatrale. While living in Italy she also started dancing contact improvisation, which is a practice she has maintained since.

Since 2016 she has been working freelance. Mostly being the creator/co-creator of projects, primarily as a founding member of Ragnaröken Theatre and as the artistic leader of SCHREI productions and Single GLove, but also being engaged in projects produced by others, such as Grusomhetens Teater, Out Of the Circle and Bizarra AS.

Violas artistic background, education and interests are diverse and multifaceted, and so are the projects she is involved in. She has been performing in everything from theatre and music theatre productions, to street theatre, site specific performances and performative installations.

Common to all her work, as an actor, performer or dancer, is a versatile physical expression and a strong performative presence.
